Alternative Commitment Ceremonies
Alternative commitment ceremonies allow you to celebrate your love and commitment to each other amongst the company of your loved ones, where the legal acknowledgement is either unavailable, pre-existing or not desired.
Although there are as many different types of commitment ceremonies as there are couples to have them, they typically fall into two main categories.
Funerals & Memorials
"While we are mourning the loss of our friend,
others are rejoicing to meet him behind the veil."
~ John Taylor ~
Funerals and memorials give us the opportunity to celebrate the life of our loved one, surrounded by those who cared for them.
It is a special time, an important time, and requires dignity, grace and respect in a manner that they themselves would have defined such traits.
Naming Ceremonies
It is a beautiful and exciting time when you welcome a new person into the world.
Some people do this formally through a religious institution, others prefer a more informal approach, and some parents opt for both types of ceremony, perhaps to satisfy the wishes of both sides of the family.
A naming ceremony is a beautiful way to gather loved ones together and give them the opportunity to celebrate the beginning of your little one's journey together.
Retirement Ceremonies
A Retirement Ceremony is simply a timely recognition of an important milestone in our journey through life. Very often, a person’s achievements and fulfilments are duly recognized at their funeral. Wouldn't it be far more appropriate to do so at the time of one’s retirement from active employment?
A Retirement Ceremony need not be on the scale of a wedding or funeral, but it would be a very proper occasion to call together close friends, family members and some long-standing colleagues from recent workplace environments.
Your Ceremony
While there are some events in life that are almost universally acknowledged and celebrated, there are others that mean different things to different people.
If you are planning a celebration of a milestone, an achievement or a perhaps a special memorial, I would be honoured to help make the day special for you and your guests.
Please contact me to share the details of your event and we can talk about how to make it a ceremony to remember.
